Kwara cares begins disbursement of N160.5m CARES RA3 grant to SMEs The Kwara State Government has flagged off the disbursement of N160,550m in grants to 688 small and micro-scale businesses in the first tranche of the KWARA NG CARES RA3 Operational Grants. These beneficiaries comprise 45 Small Scale businesses that will receive N700,000 each, and 623 micro-scale businesses that will receive N200,000 each cutting across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state. General Manager of KWASSIP, Mr. Abdulquawiy Olododo stated that the programme is a World Bank-assisted emergency recovery and intervention program facilitated by the Kwara State Government to curb the impact of COVID-19 on businesses as well as to provide economic relief and improve the employment rate in the State. The fugitive CEO of a collapsed Turkish crypto exchange has been arrested in Albania.  Faruk Fatih Özer was the subject of an Interpol red notice sent to law enforcement agencies around the world — and Turkish prosecutors want to sentence him to 40,000 years in prison.  Thodex collapsed last year and it's estimated that thousands of customers lost $24 million — but Chainalysis puts this figure closer to $2 billion.  Özer was captured in the city of Vlora at dawn on Tuesday, and work is now underway to extradite him. Oyo State Ng-cares Disburses Grants, Loans To Beneficiaries Oyo state government has disbursed grants and loans under the World Bank/Federal Government-Assisted project christened ‘NG Cares,’ which was domesticated as ‘Oyo Cares’ to beneficiaries. This symbolic presentation came up on Tuesday at the office of the Oyo State Investment and Public Private Partnership Agency (OYSIPA), Ibadan, the state capital. The initiative was conceptualized by the government to mitigate the adverse effect of COVID-19 on businesses which include job losses and closure of some firms. NG Cares Apply Link For 36 States COVID-19 pandemic is a global health emergency with far-reaching consequences on the economy, basic services, social unrest and livelihood of the poor and vulnerable. The Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES), has urged the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to accelerate the implementation of the programmes. Prof. Foluso Okunmadewa, the World Bank, Lead Specialist, Social Protection, and Task Team Leader for NG-CARES, made the call at a two-day implementation status review meeting with States’ Coordinators on Thursday in Abuja.
